A two-sport athlete at CHS, Emlynn Tursick Hewitt played varsity Soccer for one season and earned four letters in Swimming. She was named MVP of the swim team in all four seasons as a Warrior, and contributed to the 2003 Tri-Valley League team title and CIF Championship, the first for CHS in Swimming. In addition to the team 2003 CIF Championship, Emlynn has seven CIF individual and relay titles. She won the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly in 2001, won back-to-back titles in the 100 Backstroke in 2002 and 2003, won the 500 Freestyle in 2004 and was a member of the winning 200 Free and 400 Freestyle relay teams in 2003. Emlynn holds individual CHS school records in the 100 fly, 200 free, 200 IM and 500 free, and was a member of the record setting 200 free and 400 free relay teams. Continuing her swimming career, Emlynn went to Arizona State University, where she competed in the mid-distance and distance free events, along with the 200 back and 400 IM. She competed at the Pac-10 Championships, and earned honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honors. Emlynn received her B.S. in Kinesiology from ASU and completed a Masters degree in Counseling. She is a personal trainer and the owner of Empower Fitness in Carpinteria, where she and her husband Jed live with their three children, Saide, Brixton and Bowen. |
