Ivan Vargas was a two sport athlete at CHS, earning a combined five varsity letters – two in Football and three in Soccer.

On the football field, Ivan excelled as a kicker, setting a school record for most kicking points in a game with 16. He was also the leading scorer on the 1999 football team, with 53 points. The Warriors went to the CIF Finals that season, finishing as runner-up.

On the soccer pitch, Ivan was known for his goal scoring and assist-making plays. He set a CHS record for goals in a single season with 31 and led the team in both goals and assists his junior and senior seasons. He was named the Tri-Valley League MVP in his junior and senior seasons as well, with the Warriors winning the League Championship in 1999 and 2000. Ivan was named the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Player of the Year for boys soccer in 2000.

In 1999, the Warriors reached the CIF Division V Soccer Finals, facing Orange Lutheran. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and the Warriors earned a Co-Championship. Ivan was named the CIF Offensive Player of the Year that season. 

After CHS, Ivan went on to attend Santa Barbara City College and West Texas A&M, playing soccer at both schools. He currently resides in Las Vegas with his wife Claudia and is the father of two sons, Daniel and Dylan.
