Jerry “Tarzan” Hamilton was a three sport athlete for Carpinteria High School, earning a combined four varsity letters in Football and Track & Field. He was a key member of the 1978 and 1979 Tri-Valley League Championship football teams and the 1979 and 1980 League Championship Track & Field teams. 

In 1979, Jerry and the Warriors finished as runners-up in the CIF SS Football finals. He earned First Team Tri-Valley League and All CIF Southern Section honors as a wide receiver, and set a school record for 22 touchdown receptions. He also set a national record for six touchdown receptions in a single game versus Moorpark and tied the CHS record for most points in a game, with 36. Jerry was named the Offensive MVP of the Santa Barbara All Star Football Game and was selected to play in the Shrine Football Classic at the Rose Bowl. 

In addition to the CHS record for touchdown receptions, Jerry still holds school records for most career touchdown receptions at 27 and most receptions in a season with 67. His record of 81 career receptions was eventually broken.

Jerry attended Santa Barbara City College and went on to become a successful high school football coach in Ohio and West Virginia, in addition to being an accomplished construction manager for many domestic and international projects. Jerry and his wife Stephanie have three children and five grandchildren.
