Larissa Godkin Feramisco accumulated an impressive eight varsity letters during her four years at CHS as a Basketball and Track & Field athlete. She earned All Tri-Valley League honors on the basketball court in 1995 and 1996, while winning multiple team and individual Track & Field titles from 1993-1996. Mentored and coached by fellow CHS Hall of Fame member Micheline Sheaffer White, Larissa excelled as a thrower. She won the TVL Championship in the Shot Put in 1995 and ‘96 and was a triple crown winner in the Discus in 1994, ‘95 and ‘96. Adding to her titles, Larissa was the Santa Barbara County Discus Champion in 1996 and won the Russell Cup in the Shot in ‘95 and Discus in ‘96. Most impressively, she was CIF runner-up in the Shot in 1993 and won the CIF Championship in Discus twice, in 1994 and 1996, while also qualifying for the Masters Meet in Discus in ‘96. Larissa was honored as the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year in 1996 as well. The Warrior Girls Track & Field team won four straight TVL Championship while Larissa was on the team, and the Lady Warriors were also two-time CIF Academic Team Champions. The 1996 girls team also won the Russell Cup and Santa Barbara County Championships Larissa’s senior year. Larissa went on to attend the University of Redlands, where she continued to excel in Track & Field from 1997-2000 and was a two-time NCAA All-American (1998 & 1999). With the Bulldogs, Larissa captured the 1998 NCAA Division III Championship in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 166’1” and was the SCIAC Champion in the Hammer in both 1998 and 1999. She earned All-SCIAC honors in the Hammer Throw, Discus and Shot Put from 1997-2000 as well. Larissa currently owns the Redlands record for the Hammer Throw at 169’7”, ranks third on the all-time list in the Shot Put with a mark of 39’9” and fifth on the all-time list in the Discus at 134’5”. She was inducted into the Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. Having earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Redlands and a Masters of Education from Azusa Pacific, Larissa is a teacher and vice principal at Mt. Carmel School. She can often be found coaching youth sports in the Carpinteria community, where she resides with her husband Gary and two children, Grant and Brinley.
